(4.8/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Scicli is an ancient town dating back to the third millennium BCE, when it was founded by the Sicils. Today, you'll find it as it was rebuilt after the earthquake of 1693--in the elegant Sicilian Baroque style. Stroll the narrow stony streets as they wind up and down sun-drenched hills, stopping to admire the stone gargoyles and numerous Baroque churches. Plan your visit to Scicli and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Scicli family vacation planner.

  • I was in Perth in June and I keep forgetting to write more than anything else to report the great commitment of local kids, all volunteers, who have charged to the restoration and enhancement of beautiful churches left abandoned for many years. Talking to them they explained that, at the initiative of the local parish priest materially participated in the recovery and restoration of the sites. None of them have trained as an art historian and yet they are documented to be able to welcome visitors at the entrance and guide you to discover the history of the beautiful monuments and works contained within them. It's really nice to see such passion in boys so young and so prepared and motivated that you spend on something concrete to enhance an artistic heritage that if exploited can really revive economically a land so beautiful but unfortunately abandoned to itself. And glad to participate with an offer.

  • We didn't find ScIcli in the tour books, but it is near Ragusa and on a tip, we decided to give it a try. Good idea. It is very, but less touristy than Ragusa or Modica. Narrow streets, great views an...  more »
  • Beautiful and serene walk in the Centre of the beautiful baroque city galore. Only disappointment the San Mateo Church vandalized broken glass Windows and more ... no control, but the context of a superb panorama

  • The B abd b accomodation was spacious (Scicli B and b) and its owner Massimo very helpful and welcoming. You are left to your own devices with a gas stove table and utensils but breakfast was at a cafe just 5 minutes walk. The are a good many stne steps to negotiate for the b and b. Not for the feint hearted!
  • talking about this all fine, and the owner was very helpful, however I came across the room "unfortunate" with humidity and smell very small, tiny bathroom. Inform yourself well before you confirm.
