  • For the devotee of San Calogero, the Hermitage of San Calogero is a destination not to be missed. Beautiful view from the top of the promontory of monte Kronio. Inside the Church, several votive altars, rich in frescoes, stands the high altar with the white marble statue of San Calogero. Beautiful and evocative is the cave where he lived San Calogero, to be able to visit you must get the key to the sacristy.

  • The Church is a bit outside Sciacca but nice to visit. The highlight is definitely the cave where he lived San Calogero. It's on the outside of the Church and it is locked but if you ask the key in the sacristy, the damage again (free). It is very small but, inside, it exudes a strong spirituality

  • Sciacca rises behind a hill about 400 m.s.m. or slightly less, the renowned monte Kronio that this legend was Daedalus in dar origne during the time of the sicani. On it you will find: the convent today entrusted to the Franciscans; the antiquarian or also commonly referred to as "stoves", a series of caves in ancient times sudarie were used as a spa since the sulphurous fumes emitting hann healing properties ... landmarks and which nowadays have been switched to Archaeological Museum from the Superintendence. but we nn siam managed to visit being all closed by a gate so as to seem abandoned. Besides, seem to confirm the volcanic origin; the Hermitage real which is a little Grotto where San Calogero retreated into prayer renouncing to the pleasures of earthly life. very collection, exudes torment and spirituality ... and who can visit thanks to the grant of the friars. certainly a modest offer to the Church urges; and finally the Church elected a Basilica by Pope John II. The latter one nave Baroque characteristics, has a single nave and the altar stands the eminent marble statue of San Calogero. Majestic ... Bianca ... vivid ... and sideways on altars two beautiful paintings on the expulsion of the monsters, the other on the ascent to mount both by the Saint. NN I see reasons for nn get inspire hope and sometimes self-awareness and what surrounds us. ... going ... for nn talk about breathtaking and powerful wind blowing away any ugliness. Deserves it!
