  • The Castle stands on the highest part of Sciacca, near the San Michele. Should be valued and treated further because still preserves many pieces of historical, architectural and cultural value

  • a castle in the city centre too bad he's not made the most of even the conservation status is not that good anyway as each Monument must be visited in order to be able to give his assessment

  • It was erected in 1380 by Guglielmo Peralta, count of Caltabellotta and, after the death of Frederick III, one of the four vicari of Sicily. With the marriage of his daughter Daisy with Arturo di Luna, then the castle became the property of the counts Luna. Polygonal complex sits on bare rock in the upper part and East of Sciacca. It was formerly composed of two flat: the ground floor for the servants and the upper floor to the alloggio del conte and his relatives. The entrance was located north and foresaw a drawbridge; the entrance led to a courtyard that preceded the Castle and where there were stables and a chapel dedicated to St. Gregorio. Today the building is composed of four parts: the walls, the great Tower (donjon) and cylindrical both to the North, and the Palace of the count to the West. The boundary is formed by high walls which served the defense. The large quadrangular Tower remains the base, while the two-story cylindrical tower that occurs with combined with knife, is still preserved. Little remains of the Palace of count, positioned between the keep and only cylindrical tower and the rooftops and high walls where you can see paintings of the period and admire (through its Windows) a nice panorama of Sciacca.
