Categories: Beaches, Nature & Parks, Outdoor Activities
Inspirock Rating:
3.8/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web
A 15-minute walk through the Tuscan forest will take you to Cala Violina, a small cove known for its calm, transparent water and alabaster sand. Opening into the heart of the Natural Preserves of Scarborough, the cove is sandwiched between two evergreen headlands that block the waves, making for great snorkeling. You can't get to the cove by car, but you can rent a bike in the summer. The 2 km (1.2 mi) path is easily walkable, too. • It's a beautiful, sandy beach, which is accessed after a (long) walk in the Woods. We went in October and we had no trouble finding parking, which at this time is free. From the parking lot to the beach it is a very nice walk in the Woods, where many signs showing all the fauna that is populated (wild boars, squirrels, etc). The signs also say that you can go with strollers, but honestly the path is sometimes rather bumpy and there is a stairway to the beach quite steep and rough road, definitely not ideal with a stroller. There are toilets (which we didn't use), but at this time there is no bar or any kind of structure. There are no garbage pails, to prevent wild boars overthrow them, so you have to carry everything. At the beginning of October there were several people who were bathing, because in fact the water was warm and clear. A really lovely but a bit tiring if you are travelling with young children.

  • Admittedly, the €7 parking fee are remarkable. The walk 20 min is beautiful. In the season of the coming offers a group feeling, as many go here. The beach is clean, a dream. To avoid the masses due to the weekend.

  • Beautiful beach, the sand looks like, it's not huge but deserves much, the same is located near Castiglione della Pescaia. Cala Martina access common parking charge, a fair price I think is common, with about 20 minutes into the forest road. Many bike trails.
