  • You hear Sistine Chapel and expect something spectacular, when you enter you realize that it was not what you expected, though obviously everything has its explanation. Not there is doubt of them details and work has, but not must wait for a work of art surprising. Its name comes actually commissioned by the Chapel, by the Pope Sixto IV, when he didn't even charge. It is worth entering because you have a guide in Spanish that very well explained you throughout the process and allows you to understand a little of the history of the city of Savona, which have left two Popes. The entrance is economical, € 2. It more important would say that is the visit later that is makes to the Cathedral, in which you show a choir very peculiar, made of thousands of parts of wood, and considered the greater puzzle of the world, only by that explanation is worth the penalty. Also you said details very very curious, as the of the Crucifix of marble, that has a figure by front and another by back, all this in the Cathedral that is just to the side. Turned out to my fellow travelers heavy, because the guide is Argentine and talkative.

  • In the cloister, near the Duomo, is the Sistine Chapel, work of absolute quality, whose name is linked to Pope Sixtus IV. The Chapel was built to honor the Pope's parents, as you can see on the Tomb, where he portrayed the Pontiff while offering their parents to the Virgin Mary holding Jesus in her arms. The child holds in his hand a ball, symbolizing the temporal power of the Popes. The chapel with a single nave, with presbytery square, topped by Dome, originally was very simple and was painted after the death of Sixtus. The frescoes of the time running out. What you see today dates back to the 18th century. I don't know how known this opera, but it deserves to be visited without any doubt. The entrance has a cost of 2 euros. Council guided by the "Association of the ecclesiastical patrimony" of Savona on Saturdays and Sundays. Are competent and prepared.
