Create an itinerary including Via Lattea
Home to many events of the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, Via Lattea straddles the French-Italian border and spans five distinct resorts. Take your choice of 88 lifts to ski the 400 km (250 mi) of trails. You will find areas for all levels, though each resort has a different selection. Claviere is most suited to the intermediate skier, while Sestriere has some longer black runs and provides more options for the advanced. Montgenèvre is probably the best for beginners, though you can check out the resorts online to find which suits you best. Take the free buses that connect the resorts: often the lift connections are slower. For Via Lattea and beyond, use our Sauze d'Oulx road trip planner to get the most from your Sauze d'Oulx vacation.

  • It's a difficult one. We were here in March 2020 and got to ski for one day on the best snow we've ever experienced before having to go home early due to C19. Thought we'd give it another go but...

  • To be honest, they need to invest heavily in the Milky Way ski area. The lifts are really antiquated and slow - many of them were out of order during our stay. Yes, it was windy and that is why...

  • No skipass discount for under 15 and over 65. Very hard to buy tickets online. In S.Sicario only one ticket box is open and generates queues every day. Slopes are great, they deserve a better service!
  • Old badly laid out lift system, areas are badly connected and pistes are badly sign posted. Sestriere is a small pretty boring town. Friendly people good food but resort needs major investment
  • Too long waiting, more than 1 h in queue, the queue itself is not that long, but moving very slow. Next time would prefer another ski resort
  • Best place for skiing for both beginners as well as advanced skiiers. There are two separate belts (lifts) for the beginners to get to the top (different heights) of the hills from where they skii downhills.
  • Beautiful weather, snow in perfect conditions, more than half skilifts closed.
