Capo Testa, Santa Teresa Gallura

4.8
#1 of 131 in Wildlife in Sardinia
The protected beaches of Capo Testa are a magnet for swimmers. The rocky, granite peninsula, which is attached to Sardinia's mainland by an isthmus, is only about ten kilometers (6.2 miles) across. The Romans once used the small peninsula to mine the granite for their magnificent cities. The caves where the stone was quarried were last used as a source of building materials in the early 20th century. Pull on a pair of shoes with a strong grip and hike around the eroded rocks to admire the formations smoothed and shaped by the wind. Capo Testa is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Santa Teresa Gallura Edition.

I was on the beach of Rena di Ponente ... very beautiful sea and beach! There was hardly any wind and the sea a Board as well as the fabulous colors. There is a valet parking and takes €1.50 per hour. It fills up quickly. And I saw that you park across the street. Always drive I reached Cala spinosa. It is accessed via a steep path, you have to be careful. I liked it though because it is a sunny beach rocks and also in the sea there are, inter alia, covered with algae so impossibly slippery. Also danger jellyfish that day. Scenically, however, is spectacular!

Beautiful sea, then depends on the wind but normally if you are aware .... bar comfortable and friendly, bathrooms very clean. August gets a bit crowded but workable

  • We were here in December 2016. It is a beautiful area which is very suitable if you like climbing/bouldering
  • What an amazing marvel of nature's power and beauty. A must see on any itinerary.
  • A magical spot. Climb through the rocks and take in the ever-changing views.
  • It's impressive! Those rocks looks like bones, very curious. The path is not so difficult but I recommend to use appropriated shoes.
  • Beautiful rocky playground for hippy living, slackline waterlines and parkour!
