  • The sanctuary of Santa Maria a Mare is located in the village of Santa Maria di Castellabate near the beach of Marina Piccola. The Church was built in the 11th century (if it has any news already in 1102) and consists of three naves separated by columns and a bell tower with a hexagonal base which characterizes the landscape of Marina Piccola. The front has the inscription "Santuario Santa Maria a Mare" and the door of the nave in bronze relief depicting the image of santa Maria a Mare and some events that have marked history. At the center of the apse stands the statue of santa Maria a Mare, patroness of the fraction that is the object of worship. The statue of the Madonna with a golden cloak, holding a lily in one hand with the other supporting the blessed child with one hand and in the other bears a Golden Globe, is said to have been found by fishermen in the waters in front of marina di Castellabate in the early 1800. Tradition has it that they are just fishermen to bring in procession the statue found at sea on the day of its celebration on August 15.

  • Place to visit, beautiful architecture and art. Beautiful place of worship, a small dip in the history of the small country. Recommended stopover for tourists interested in culture.

  • Linda Church typical of the area, but inside leaves much to be desired, what rescue is the cleanliness of all its elements, to comparison with other churches I have ever seen, super recommended to pass, but if we had to choose among other things, is the first thing to rule out.
