  • The route starts with kits, pottery and arrowheads dating back to the 16th and 14th BC of the bronze age and found in a necropolis located in the area of Agnena. In the next two areas you can see relics from the iron age. Particularly significant are some tombs dating back to the 9th and 7th centuries b.c., along with various Etruscan and Greek artifacts. Ceramic objects are in the fourth room with Greek cultural influences and locally produced artefacts dating back to the sixth century b.c. The two later collect votive statues, while the seventh salt contains ceramics, bowls. Attic vases and other local artefacts dating from the 6th and 5th centuries BC. The eighth room is dedicated to the 5th century BC, the period when the Samnites established themselves on the Etruscans and is of particular interest is a reconstruction of a burial. The ninth finally collects objects found in excavations at several shrines in the area.

  • For the ridiculously low cost € 2.50 you can visit: 1) the Roman amphitheatre 2) the Archaeological Museum of ancient Capua. 3) il Mitreo located always not far from the amphitheatre. Pay attention to the times, in fact currently the only ticket office is at the entrance to the amphitheatre and close to 15:30 hours. The Museum instead closes at 19:00, but without a ticket cannot be accessed. The same holds for the mithraeum but can be visited up to 15:30. Ample free parking near the area of the Amphitheater

  • The Archaeological Museum of ancient Capua is located in the heart of Santa Maria Capua Vetere. The establishment of the Archaeological Museum of ancient Capua was born from the need to present, according to the most modern exhibition criteria, the materials released into the light during the excavations carried out in the second half of the 20th century in what was once the territory of Capua. Since December 2014 the Museum, the amphitheatre and the mitreo are passed to the Polo museale della Campania. The tour duration is approximately 30 minutes. Is not very large and the exhibits are few. Most of the time you can find pottery and gears of war and work. It is a ten minute walk from the amphitheatre Campano. Definitely worth visiting because the entrance is inclusive of other attractions in Santa Maria Capua Vetere including the mithraeum, the amphitheatre Campano. Tickets cost just € 2.50.

  • Very small but interesting Museum. Honestly I was expecting a little more. There are still pieces well maintained that deserve to be seen. Staff totally absent ... At the entrance they asked simply if I had the ticket without actually control it. The empty Museum ... Not a keeper or a guard. Any attacker would quietly could harm undisturbed ...

  • This museum offers a vast collection of archaeological finds of Roman late Antiquity, with many Greek influences (for geographical location known as "Magna Greece"). The "resting Satyr" by Praxiteles is a sculpture of considerable fame which is not to be considered bland.
