Beautiful sanctuary, place of pilgrimage to the Virgin inside a cave; Nearby small Museum of Pope Jean XXIII and a monument dedicated to emigrants, great parking and restaurant in short, steeped with history and emotion.

If you're looking for something truly original for a short tour in Lombardy, is what you need: a shrine set up in a natural cavern where the water continues to drip. Beyond the pure fact of religion, is a place that speaks to the spirit, and that poses themselves, recollection in the dark cave illuminated by the warm glow of candles. Outside the panorama stretches over much of the Valley, to the East. Recommend the path along the forest, between the chapels of the via crucis. In modern construction sort near the shrine a bar-restaurant, a Museum, the room where he was staying as a cardinal Pope John XXIII and a gift shop.

Very beautiful place of pilgrimage with a superb view panoramic view of the Valley. Famous in the cave/sanctuary, truly sumptuous religious Office. Not to mention the museum dedicated to Pope Giovanni XXIII. Not to be missed!

  • Definitely worth visiting if you're in the Valley. The sanctuary is spread in a cave with a nave and altar where masses are held regularly during the summer, the cave extends in length to about sixty metres looking out at the end on a tub of water that flows from the bottom, where the cave is further develops in different rooms but becomes accessible only to cavers, arriving to a trap where cave diving have forwarded discovering across a cave as big as that of the sanctuary. The resort Roncaglia you can walk along a dirt road that climbs to the shrine that in addition to enjoy the view of the Valley passes in front of various chapels of the via crucis. In addition to the shrine is also a gift shop on the ground floor, a bar/restaurant on the first floor wheelchair accessible via elevator, third floor one can visit the museo della corna busa which displays various relics even of some antiquity back to sanctuary.

  • Beautiful sanctuary, the Church is carved into a natural cave, and is quite impressive. If you go after it rained the cave is damp and rain drops fall from the top of the cave, there is a path in the woods which is kind of a way of the cross with 7 chapels. Legend has it that find the madonna was a shepherd, waiting for a sign from God to reveal their existence, and when a Shepherdess deaf mute beginning to speak and hear, he revealed the existence of the madonna. They wanted to take her to a sanctuary, but all attempts failed, and so did the cave Church.
