  • The high Valley of Metauro is already rich in history and intrinsic beauty and for this is well worth a trip. In Sant ' Angelo In VADO, however, are said to be two < < hidden treasures of the EARTH >> the first are the truffles, the second (and I agree) the archaeological area where outcrop MYTH'S HOUSE the remains of a Roman villa of the first century. BC with its splendid mosaics preserved very well much beautiful to leave amazed. To visit this site, it deserves to be increasingly valued, call the Council Office I.A. T and you are greeted by friendly operators are ready to give directions or to accompany you during your visit so very knowledgable and friendly, it is also possible to continue the visit to other sites with a combined ticket from very low cost (recommended). Enjoy your visit.

  • Just outside the historic centre of the village stands the field of pieve, which is the area that houses the Domus of the myth, a large and significant portion of the village of Roman origin of Tifernum Mataurense, the old s. Angelo in Vado. After several vicissitudes, dropouts and excavation work stopped was launched in 1999, thanks to the Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici delle Marche, an extensive programme of excavation and development of the site, also using European funds Today are visible a aristocratic domus of the first century. D.c. beautifully enriched by mosaics of great value and of large proportion, at least in this part of Italy. What is striking is the good/excellent condition of the mosaic floors, as is clear also from the vestibule with the beautiful Neptune's Smug on the wagon pulled by two sea horses, or the artistic wealth of domus with an interesting peristyle and numerous marine character depictions with moray eels, Octopus and other sea inhabitants. A splendid archaeological site in development and where work continues, but it deserves a better organization both in terms of infrastructure to tourists (the bathroom at the entrance was gross, litter and material neglect in this area, the Lady at the ticket counter shortly prepared to provide historical and tourist information), that tourism site: so today is a site a bit "improvised". If you are interested I recommend you visit the other excavation (faces the Domus of myth and is not yet open to the public) where, a very nice and very knowledgeable Professor at the University of Macerata will explain his assistants jobs digging carthusians who are bringing to light another interesting archaeological material in the area. The entrance ticket costs 3 euros (paltry sum to the value of the site) while visiting feasible even with a guide (ask at the tourist office)

  • Nice Roman mosaics of a week preserved first century domus. Mosaics are with marine subjects, quite strange for a house 2 days far from the Mediterranean sea, it is said that the owner was a rich merchant. The site if close can be alert to be open at the tourist office in Santa Maria extra mura where there is the responsible.
  • The domus is really an interesting place to visit
