  • a village that leaves you breathless for its dilapidated streets and buildings full of history few shops but there are definitely belong to another era can turn smoothly and fix closed to traffic is a real oasis of well-being and silence to say the evening where you can breathe fresh mountain air mixed with that of chestnuts is not the first time I've been and always leaves me without words recommend it to all those who want to spend some time in another era

  • The historic centre of Sant'Agata dei Goti retains its powerful fascination, which induces always return, even for short visits. Sunday, October 16, 2016, in a lovely day, unwittingly stumbled into a real historical event: the inauguration of the new Bishop, who according to tradition should come into town riding a white horse. The arrival was scheduled at 17:00; the pleasantness of the day and the uniqueness of the event we were made to hold beyond our original intentions, allowing us to deepen with the volunteers, who were decorating with coloured powders, the square in front of the Curia, the traditions of this well-preserved medieval town. So we knew of this ancient custom which, however, was discontinued years ago since the last Bishop, who refused to ride a horse. So, with that, the expectations of the population felt it in every speech: the new Bishop would or would not be mounted on horseback? Finally, after visiting the historic city in every corner, finding nooks that previously there had escaped, we dove into the crowd at the entrance to the bridge that leads to Piazza Trieste and we waited with trepidation the horse, which was late to arrive and there were very few minutes at 17. Finally the horse arrived but was not white, as usual. Was Piebald, black and white. Right on time at 17 the Bishop arrived but with a nice statement, wished that he mounted on his horse for him a young man. Young people are the future of everything, even of the Church. We have seen, perhaps, such a radical change of tradition? The answer will come only when in Sant'Agata dei Goti will go a new Bishop. But the event is remote because the newcomer just 50 years old, so you expect a long episcopate.
