  • Despite the name is catchy to the public gardens of San Quirico d'Orcia, located in the ancient ramparts of the town. These manicured gardens dating back to 1581 and are named after their former owner, Diomede Leoni that li produced on land donated by Francesco I de ' Medici, and who would make them available to the community and pilgrims who passed through the town (which at that time was an important ' ' statio ' Via Francigena '). In the center of the gardens the statue of Cosimo III, built in 1688 by Cardinal Chigi, to thank him for having given the title of Marquis of San Quirico. At the bottom of the garden there are the ruins of the Tower of the fortress, originally high 39 meters, which was destroyed by the retreating German army in 1944.

  • A little eden in the village of san quirico d'Orcia, very nice and clean. Pleasant walk about and admire the view.

  • I had to visit to understand. In intermediate seasons better still: nature that rises or goes to rest from his best when merges with the stone and the story.
