  • When you visit a little town like Boca and its Abbey finds some peace and optimism, maybe the world is not all trash as various TG and big brother would have us believe. We arrived in San Nazzaro a Wednesday around noon on a beautiful sunny day. Some retirees sitting in the Sun on a bench, the few school kids making out in the garden during an interval, the clean streets, the easy parking next to the beautiful Abbey. The Abbey was open and deserted; the beautiful cloister with its frescoes well chronicled by the panels was quiet and bathed in the Sun; No graffiti or marker to deface this wonder. Too bad there was a guide, but then we saw that the small tourist office open Saturday and Sunday only. We walked for a while, then went in the nearby village of Boca to get a snack, but returned again to San Nazzaro to review the cloister and to walk in the nature reserve of the Lame del Sesia. There we saw the Cavour channel that passes under the river Sesia. A day of peace and quiet. and to think that not far from San Nazzaro Vicolungo Outlet there. Luckily the thousands of deluded attending the Outlet thinking to save not know this haven of peace and tranquility reigns supreme at San Nazzaro.

  • It's not a monumental complex as others, but the harmonious proportions arouse admiration in his sight. The conservation status is very good. I've never seen a cloister with frescoes so visible and well kept. Peace and quiet, silence: on a Saturday with sky tersissimo we were the only two visitors. Lost in amidst the rice paddies, in the middle of a village crumbling appears as other small villages nearby, is truly a hidden gem (although a few steps from an outlet) that deserves to be visited.

  • It is always exciting to cross the threshold of a Benedictine Abbey, and even more so if this goes back to the early years of the eleventh century. Beautifully restored, the visit is a real treat for the heart and mind. On everything: the great sides of the narthex, the Church in Lombard Gothic style and the cloister, enriched with well-preserved frescoes of the life of St Benedict 400 representatives.
