  • The road sign is not much exactly and you may not get there, it also takes luck and be able to ask someone and wanting to get ... suddenly you find the Carabinieri station and next to the entrance to the courtyard of the Abbey with a small parking lot. I'm going in search of the oldest part and the cloister, of course and next to the Church at the bottom I find an impressive portal with a monumental Fountain a sort of chess but also with two beautiful Rivers or lions with characteristic in addition to Bill postseicentesca the thickness of the fingers of the paws. Going back a few steps and I introduce myself to the cloister: the Center stands a beautiful monument to celebrate ... but because I do not have with me an appropriate Guide and because there is nobody and nothing maybe recorded that a coin to tell you .... The Colonnade one floor with window certainly battered by the Sun that beats down and I am pleased that we cannot go up to look around and then is closed (I learn from a billboard that it houses an Institute of Restoration of old books); I see a couple of beautiful wooden doors thrown ... back on my steps and into the vast and wide hallway entrance to a side branch to which ancient walls oil paintings with the effigy of various ecclesiastical dignitaries. eventually an atrium where a billboard and some photo panels explain that from there it goes to a wood restoration Center ... almost noon and then briefly discuss I boot to the Church; a few photos and I turn off the cellulare...la Benedictine fathers accompanies the entrance from the Sacristy Bell that will celebrate the sacred Rite that begins with the blessings of the altar ... ah, the Gregorian chants mark the various moments of the liturgy and in almost seven decades I find myself thinking that this is the Church and religion in which I grew up at the beginning and that slowly disappeared after Vatican Council II .... and then the monumental ORGAN all collected down the aisle of the enchanting WOODEN CHOIR. I'm surprised to see the thick column of faithful come to communion. Concluded the ritual, a few more photos and are the last to leave: in my shirt with short sleeves sometimes standing still I felt fresh, but there was no air conditioning in the Church doors open to let air flow while the churchyard a hot not to say. No, unfortunately I did not have time to buy herbal teas or souvenirs, even here I plan to return ...

  • Peace and quiet, a bit abandoned the property to be valued, loved the fountain on the side of the Abbey
