  • I would like to make my second review of this place for devotion and faith, that every Calabrian port here, probably the greatest shrine of Calabria. In the period from March to October, the area comes alive with a massive presence of pilgrims, mostly from Italy but also from the entire Calabria and Sicily. Once the pilgrims came to the feast of our Lady of Polsi on foot or by mule employing a whole day or more days to complete the journey, today the resort can be reached by car or truck and only the last stretch along walk. The adventure of travel, stay and overnight, the reciprocity of basic instincts, lure with food sharing and social occasions. As in many other shrines, even here it makes a night vigil in the Church take turns you go to visit the Madonna and he establishes with it a more intimate conversation. Until a few decades ago was entirely ' natural ' sleep inside the Church, on the benches and floors but the ecclesiastical authorities, in an attempt to purify the cult from deviant and anachronistic legacies significations organize prayers, songs and responsoriali clubs to invite the faithful to the vigil. In the area adjacent to the monastery stands the smoke of fires that you roasted or cooked goat meat to be consumed during the long moments spent in the Valley of the wrists. Until a few years ago, the Creek bed, largely dry, was dotted with many benches for the country of slaughter goats, custom abolished for lack of sanitary controls and for any violation of the rules of protection and respect for the environment. He disappeared the shot of fucilerie, but there are casks, firecrackers and Fireworks. Someone vows to dance or to play for hours and countless groups of faithful, surrounding the sanctuary clearings plunge in long hours of rhythmic music under the guidance of "dance masters" who manage the entry and exit of persons in the choreography of dances. Convent: the left aisle of the Church leads to the cloister, where you can visit the old cells, some restored, others left on purpose to the State of origin. In some of these cells is given hospitality to-pilgrims who require it.

  • After many years of holidays in Calabria we'd promised ourselves, with my partner, to go to this shrine and finally we did it this year. But we made it all the way! Arrive at the shrine is an adventure: the road is very rough, sometimes non-existent (only Earth and stones) in addition the day we decided to go it was raining hard enough then the street was even worse than usual. However we did it and we were rewarded. The sanctuary is nestled in the woods of the mountain, the Church is not very big but very cozy. The volunteers of the sanctuary very willing to give you information. There is no phone signal

  • Because it is isolated and a sense of peace

  • Yes it may find themselves alone with their faith in front of the wonderful and fascinating journey to get there, like you can't believe that somebody up there exists ...

  • Exciting as always, a rough around the edges but charmingly, where the tradition of typical Calabrian religious festivals never changes.
