Steeped in history, Torre Grossa draws visitors with its intricate architecture, important artwork, and impressive views of Tuscany. The 13th-century palace stands on the ruins of an even older building. As the seat of local government for centuries, the building houses civic offices of the town council on the ground floor. Explore the upper levels to find the civic museum and gallery, featuring the former council chamber, and beautiful frescoes painted by the likes of Coppo di Marcovaldo, Lippo Memmi, and Benozzo Gozzoli. Climb to the top of the palace's tower for one of the best views of Tuscany. Put Torre Grossa at the forefront of your travel plans using our San Gimignano itinerary planner.

  • From piazza del Duomo, and an open staircase leads to the entrance of the tower. on the left is a historic brick staircase to the first floor. Continue on a more modern iron staircase with a gallery on each floor to allow you to take a breath. I think you go for about 200 steps. At the top, you can really enjoy a wide view that allows you to embrace the entire village of San Gimignano. Well worth the trip! Cost of the climb € 7.50.

  • Torre Grosso is worth the climb anyway. The views of San Gimignano and the surrounding countryside is overwhelming. The tower is relatively easy to climb

  • one of the best sights and views in toscana. walking the streets and drinking wine is a must.
  • Great views of the surrounding area at a reasonable price to go up the tower!
  • After Siena San Gimighiano is ok, but not so exceptional.
  • Great view! But way overpriced!
  • Biggest tower in a city of towers. No lift. Great view where you can see all San Gimignano
