San Gimignano Bell Tower, San Gimignano

(4.8/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
Built by the city's powerful patrician families in the age of feudalism, San Gimignano Bell Tower is a reminder of a once-ubiquitous architectural trend. Admire at the 14 different towers still in existence, the tallest of which stands 54 m (177 ft) high. At one point, 72 of these study stone structures accentuated the town's skyline. Climb more than 250 steps to the top of the Torre Grossa for views of the other towers and the Tuscan countryside. • What is the most typical or most picturesque? It is more the abundance that makes the charm.

  • San Gimignano is a wonderful place to visit! Plan to spend the day & explore the local flavors. The bell towers are great fun; wear comfortable shoes and plan on taking photos every step of the way. Y...  more »
  • We visited this village on a beautiful sunny day with blue skies. Wow ... If you're nearby this leg is required, this village is all beautiful and beautiful Lucerne. The only flaw, the Museum of Grenache in renovation and there is no sign that say it ... you realize when you're ahead. Anyway everything nice & see!!!
