Grotte di Stiffe, San Demetrio ne' Vestini

Categories: Caves, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.2/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web
Accessible only by guided tour, Grotte di Stiffe is a complex of caves formed by centuries of dripping and flowing water. Listen to the murmur of the streams that pass through the caves, wander past stalactites and stalagmites, and inspect the results of erosion and corrosion over time in the complex rock formations. Be prepared for a long walk with lots of steps. Even if it is warm outside, don’t forget to bring an extra layer, as the caves remain at a constant 10 C (50 F) year-round. Due to unpredictable weather conditions between November and April, it is advisable to call ahead during this period to assure that tours are available. Put Grotte di Stiffe into our San Demetrio ne' Vestini travel itinerary planner and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • I lift up my eyes to the high wall where the mountain forest landscapes are falling. It's the sound of walking on wood accompanied by the flow of water of the River, guiding me. We enter. Change colors. The rock and the water that model. On the head it's lace pieces of Positano ", from the Earth natural games of artists. Then the impetuous peal of the great water fall and then another. Reception area well equipped, even packed breakfast with accompanying bus round trip. During the year we organize events, check the internet dates.

  • The service could be improved since the return bus was full and we walked back (though in reality it was a pleasant descent down a path from which with a little detour leads to the falls). Ticket bar moves exaggerated prices. The guides are responsible. The visit is very lovely, the caves are spectacular. The only annoyance, as always, the people who make pictures when it is forbidden and leave screaming kids, but overall it remains a great time:D

  • The caves are very interesting, thanks to the special river flowing inside, basically dates from the underground river until you reach the waterfall very impressive. Certainly worth a visit.

  • meravigliose.
  • belle
  • Very go in Castellana (Italy) or Frassasi (Brands), but even these caves deserve; the only with water flowing again. And then in the winter there are a beautiful crib. You have to come here.

  • Really nice caves, although there were too many jobs resulting in review of the caves to make them accessible.
