Disappointed by closed in mid-August of Cantine Antinori, we started looking for alternative cellars that were opened on 12 and 13 August. A few kilometers from Bargino we found signs of Tenuta del Palagio and we called. They gave us for availability by phone and we set a guided tour of the cellars and the winery where Chianti Classico DOP olive oil is retained. With only €25 we had Besides visiting, a nice tasting and tasting of 8 wines well (+ brandy) all served in glasses quite distinct with a fanlight at the base of each glass with an indication of the wine tasted. We were seated on the lawn (a luxury in these times of drought) dominating many of the vineyards of the estate and in the shadow of the Tower of the adjacent Castle. Besides the wines we also enjoyed a light lunch with a variety of meats of macelleria Falorni di Greve in Chianti, a local pastor of various seasoning and bruschetta with 4 single variety oils, all delicious. We especially liked the oil of Frantoiane which has a fragrant scent of fresh grass, Green Apple and artichoke, and Polifenolio to which is added a strong balsamic scent and mentholated, very small pinch and bitterish aftertaste. The ladies have chosen oil obtained with olives Madonna of Impruneta whose oil has a musky smell is addictive. Also interesting is the glimpse of various aging balsamic dressings 2-5-8-12 4 years. After all the samples we asked with a raisin wine spectacular: it's called the gold of Brumaire and is made from late harvest Ching Tan, also did wither in the loft, whose juice once you have does three years of aging and fermentation in barrique di acacia ... a show. Judith help/waitress who guided us was supersimpatica. La Tenuta del Palagio although is not well conveyed the message can also arrange lunch and dinner upon reservation with agreed menu directly with guests at very affordable prices. Next time I will be back in Chianti we will arrange a reunion between friends for a dinner and we are sure we will make a good impression. One thing I would like to point out. Not all photos that you see on the page is relevant to it holding, but Tripadvisor as they explained the owners, some photos concerning castle that until a few years ago was run by the Estate and now for a few years changed the Manager. It would be appropriate to make them remove as they can leave disappointed someone you expect to visit what is shown in the photo gallery. The titpolari they try but having photos taken by guests such photos were never removed. However the estate of Palagio everything OK!

When I see facts that are injustices I get angry I was present at a wine tasting held at Tenuta del Palagio a couple months ago. I was with the table randomly to Ms Deb who did a review days ago saying at Palagio are correct. I must say from neutral guest Mrs. Deb who made a bad review, when I order wine to be shipped in the USA was definitely buzzed. It was so much that the waiters del Palagio compiled for you in the form of shipment of wines at his request and also I sign too. I can therefore say that Mrs. churches and signing to be send champagne Moscato and paid for one and not for the most expensive wines. I know the people of Palagio for years and I must say I always fixed and specimens. Produce excellent wines and oils and are also quite honest and well disposed towards the hundreds of visitors who flock to the estate every week. Behold now I vented, and I hope that those who read the only bad review of Tenuta del Palagio read mine too.

The tour itself was wonderful. The tour guide explained the different wines, regions, and how the wine was made really well. However, after the tour/sample of wines, I placed an order to have wine shi...  more »

  • Great tour around the winery and their wines and olive oil. Great view.
  • Manuella was one of the friendliest people we me on our trip to Italy. The wine tasting provided very generous samples of food and wine. One of the highlights of our trip! Highly recommended.
  • Historic castle and great wine!
