We depart from San Candido after lunch and we walk the whole trail on Monday in a group of 4 people, 2 bike (hired from Papin) and 2 in shoes. During our journey, which lasted 4 hours including several photo stops and no, we didn't find hardly anyone (great time to continue with no traffic and smooth running of the weekend). I want to clarify that tread the path is absolutely free, you do not pay any fee! If you have the means to bring your bikes so be it (it will mean that you won't spend even one euro), but if you get the chance you will have to resort to rent ... Please don't complain of the prices, because they are easily accessible even before the start. We choose the second option and rent the bikes after staying well informed on how it worked before leaving et voilà is a snap! A bike 16 € including trash, we asked the lock but they assured us we would not be served because the laws of respect and they did. Departure just give a document for recording of received, which must be preserved until it returns to the Middle, you have a bottle of water and go to the path. Route initially and then slightly downhill, suitable also for less experienced and asphalted suitable shoes (except for a short piece of 50mt dirt because of work). It runs along the small railway that remains very quiet and then along the river Drava. Alternate with expanses of green lawns and slices of rock which make the landscape unique. en route you can find small dining to whom we did not stop. Short stop at Loacker to buy some candy and off again towards Lienz. In Lienz we found closed Papin for the return and we kept the bikes with us, by surrendering the next day. The return to Lienz costs 5 € and will be brought in San Candido for you, otherwise 5 € for the place bike on the train. Highly recommended and easiest way to go, do not overestimate the feasibility for children, because despite being very easy, for children is still very long.show original

Is slightly downhill, then suitable also for those not trained (like me) and for those travelling with children. We drove from Lienz, we reached San Candido train, here rented bicycles back pedaling towards Lienz. With stops, riding with calm, took about 4 hours. Unfortunately we went in August: the path was crowded and the prices of bikes undergo a significant rise due to the high season! For two bicycles, a car seat for the baby and two padlocks (essential if you plan on stopping to eat something along the way) we spent well 45 euro! To this are added the 5 euro (per bike) for delivery in Lienz instead of Dobbiaco. My suggestion is to avoid the month of August and (if possible) take the bike from home. For the rest, highly recommended!show original

The real problem is that in August is the busiest of via del Corso at Christmas, and unfortunately it is frequented by many people, and families, who obviously take the bike for the first time: zero respect for rules, noise, uncivilized behavior of various kinds, including the Italian habit of throwing garbage anywhere. Very pretty a park in Sillian and the Park would say mandatory to Loacker, shame that even here, in August is almost impossible to move. To try again, but in other periods.show original
