  • I visited the museum situated in a side street near the Cathedral. Overtime the ivories with stories from the old and New Testaments in addition to parchment describing the Exultet. Along with these pearls medieval crucifixes and five paintings and altarpieces from the 17th century. Visit not to be missed for those who pass from Salerno admission 2 euros

  • The Museo Diocesano di Salerno is one of the most beautiful to me visited, Hosted in the elegant building that housed the Seminar offers the visitor a collection of works of art of great value. In theaters, with lighting adjusted to enhance the individual details, the works are exhibited in an exemplary way. Of particular importance is the precious cycle of ivories dating from the XI XII sec., every Tablet depicts a biblical scene with detail and fine workmanship, equally valuable in their uniqueness, the illuminated scrolls 11 that made up the roll of the Exultet, and, in the middle ages, a painted cross particularly fascinating, and the brass foil coated Robert Guiscard , semi-precious stones and enamels. In the other rooms paintings and sculptures of the Renaissance and the 17th century. The bright hallways are Marble Mosaic slabs and exhibits a rich collection of ancient coins. A visit absolutely recommendable! The Lord ticket clerk greeted us with great kindness and gave us lots of useful information.

  • A sad story. This museum possesses an incomparable collection of twelfth century ivories: really extremely beautiful. And as far as I have seen, also some other medieval pieces of value. The state of maintenance however is saddening. Something has to be done urgently.
  • Been here for a literature event: le notti do Barliario Fascinating venue
  • A must-see. It is for free and has the unique ivory panels of - possibly - Roberto il Guiscardo, a Norman chieftain who lived in the 11th century.
  • The natural inclination of the Museum to welcome events makes it even more impressive.
