  • In the heart of the historic centre of Salerno, is reachable within a few minutes of walk pleasant alleys and buildings. The Church of San Pietro a Corte-after decades of archaeological investigations-has long since returned to public use, but only on special occasions, such as the now consolidated heritage days, you have an opportunity to visit with the support of qualified personnel made available by the archaeological group of Salerno, always very active in the territory. The Club, originally a large porticoed House used as a throne room by the Lombards of Salerno, then Palatine Chapel and then Church, is a palimpsest of almost 1300 years, synthesized by the choice of leaving it to the middle in Baroque configuration, and otherwise bringing back instead to light the walls of the Lombard period and then Norman. The Guide led the visit, not very long, with ease and skill, and the ability to deepen the discussion on technical topics if necessary. At the exit, a colleague less diligent and helpful was stationed in serving (today) monument Hypogeal, which cherishes traces spectacular Imperial Roman thermal plant, which later became the high medieval age a shrine decorated with frescoes still in excellent condition and affected by burials sub divos. Finally, in the small square in front of the access stairway to the Church, the cultural association salernitana Counterpoise organized a dance event with interesting medieval young fans in costumes; Truly a learning experience and at the same time fun.
