  • Who were these characters won't know even the same pastor of this church, the importance of which was recently demonstrated by recent research. It would seem a pleasantry yet that Greek myth was celebrated again in the sixteenth century thanks to John Florio, the true author of the opera "a Midsummer night's dream" (Act IV, scene I). Could not be Shakespeare to write as the true author, John Florio and his father Michelangelo were home at Sabbioneta in those years and in another show of their work have known well not only other places of that Duchy but also close to Mant ova and Giulio Romano, who created the important architectural works of the two branches of the Gonzaga family, recalled in "winter's tale" (Act V, scene II). These constant precise references identifying which often recur in the texts of the works were entered by Florio unwilling they appear as authors of works intended for popular theatre, experiencing them elitist environments and in the Court of Elizabeth i. additional information in the book "the case for Shakespeare"

  • The beautiful church is enriched by the recent discovery of the remains of Vespasiano Gonzaga and the family. Beautiful light of the central dome, very cosy and welcoming in its octagonal structure

  • Included in Mantua and Sabbioneta card, this little gem is worth a quick stop, if only to admire the lovely vertical perspective.

  • Spectacular. On the other hand all Sabbioneta is the ideal city to a Duke. I wrote it, it was not! Duke v. Gonzaga has gone to a better life, but the city is here in his Renaissance theatricality integrates. I hope that the barbarians not ravage in this century that will see the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Foundation.

  • I have not been able to visit but: In 1988, when police recovered the coffin of Vespasian and his son, you'll discover that the Duke was suffering from syphilis. In a final attempt to slow brain decline induced by bad hurt, the Duke had been practicing from a celebrated Physician (Barber surgeon at that time) a few holes in the skull.

  • Amazingly beautiful place

  • The octagonal confers a considerable originality to the Church. This, in addition to the funerary monument of Vespasione Gonzaga, worth the visit ...

  • Stylish late-16th century. Inside there is the mausoleum of Vespasiano Gonzaga, Port opera and Leone Leoni.
