  • An incomplete façade, the small square just enhanced (amazing that both left as parking, which other European city remained so backward?) does not do justice to this beautiful Cathedral: the Interior welcomes you to the light, very clean and simple style, after the intoxication of the Baroque. The painting of the risen Christ by Palma il Giovane and the crucifix and silvery in the presbytery. To see the altar of our Lady of grace, beautiful side chapel with 17th century frescoes and cleared of Ricchieri, jewelry manufacture. To visit, on request, the sacristy of the canons. Open in the afternoon from 17.00

  • It is the most loved by rodigini and polesani. Cathedral-the Cathedral is in Adria-often hosts the Bishop. Simple an incomplete façade with brick. The Interior is vast and quiet space where light triumphs. A first Church had to exist already in the 10th century, next to the Castle built by Bishop Paul. The foundation stone of the present Cathedral was laid by Bishop Carlo Labia in 1696. The project is of Padua Girolamo Frigimelica Roberti, poet and librettist of melodramas, author of the finest essays in eighteenth-century Venetian architecture, like villa Pisani at Stra, and the Church of Torresino in Padua. Unfortunately, many come to Rovigo to visit the Rotunda and ignore one of the most important and most beautiful churches of the eighteenth century veneto. The monumentality of the altars and the various elements is driven by the harmony of relations. The Cathedral is dedicated to Saint Stephen but popular devotion for a fresco of the Beata Vergine delle Grazie ended to celebrate this anniversary with an annual solemn function. In the late nineteenth century masses and Vespers were still accompanied by the Philharmonia orchestra conducted by violinist and composer Domenico Tosarini of Rovigo. The Cathedral hosted the violinist Niccolò Paganini when it was unknown to the general public but able to surprise the unwary. Notable works of painting and sculpture preserved but we must dwell to admire them and understand them. Who haunts the masses perhaps wouldn't show you only one painter but captures and breathes unconsciously sublime charm. La fabbrica del duomo lasted for almost two centuries. The elegant wooden choir were built in 1844, to a design by Lorenzo Urbani, with carvings of Pietro Graceful Venetian gilding of Gregory Caplan of Rovigo but originally from Badia Polesine. The Carberry was production designer of operas represented in the theatre company and directed by Tosarini. Peter Gach was master in Venice of the young Giovanni Miani, future Explorer searching for the source of the Nile. Graziella Andreotti.

  • Beautiful, impressive duomo without the buzzing of tourists in other more famous Italian cities. Calm and peaceful!
