  • I enjoy learning about most all types of history, and I read a book of 454 pages called The White War about the terrible struggles between Italy and the German/Austrian armies during World War I. This...  more »
  • Easy access. Small free parking available for visitors. The shrine sits atop a small hill theatre of clashes in the great war. At the beginning of the climb the road that leads to the clearing, on the left, you can see the remains of the trenches. Too bad it's not possible to exploit them due to the presence of vipers (so reads a sign). At the foot of the staircase leading to the shrine there are artillery pieces well preserved despite having no shelter from the weather. Inside the shrine, on + levels, are the remains of over 20 thousand soldiers (some strangers) of various nationalities (about half), the altars of Fabio Filzi and Damiano Chiesa and the bust of the Italian 1st Army Commander. Pity that inside there were some water infiltration and damaged walls and the lawn outside was not "English" as deserves a historic place like this.

  • Access is quite easy, you Park close and there is a small hill a hundred meters. Inside the atmosphere is sacred, dutiful silence. Inside are especially Damiano Chiesa and Fabio Filzi
