  • Unfortunately underwent many changes with the opening of via Nazionale, today represents the only real Park (with an exceptional historical/archaeological significance) in this area bordering the Quirinal Hill, with the fabulous roof terrace, which overlooks Trajan's market. Actually looks like a hanging garden, enclosed by walls, just off via Nazionale, via Quattro Novembre, via Magnanapoli, via Panisperna in the rione Monti. It is accessed by a side street via Mazzarino, through a steep staircase that climbs through ancient ruins at the end of the century. This sixteenth-century villa was built on the initiative of Cardinal Pietro Aldobrandini, who commissioned Giacomo Della Porta, architect of the new owner, who designed the building with stairs and balconies and the curtain wall of the garden. On the upper floors of the building had housed a rich collection of works of art: now dispersed and moved to other venues and museums, the collection housed in the villa was formed by real masterpieces. There were paintings of Giovanni Bellini, Tiziano, in General of the Venetian school, in addition to that of the Carracci, Raphael and the environment. In essence, offered a broad outline of the 16th-century Italian painting seascape and early seventeenth century. In sixteenth-century Pavilion was located the Roman painting depicting a wedding scene, universally known as "wedding Aldobrandine", now preserved in the Vatican museums. This my comment comes after news of the reopening, after a few years, the villa in the spring of 2016, which allowed me years later to visit it after extensive renovation work of the furnishings of the Park, vegetation

  • A small space of greenery in the heart of downtown Rome, with many benches and small alleys of walk, not to mention pleasant views of monuments in the surroundings and the roofs of the city... See without a doubt!

  • hanging gardens with wonderful views and free. Entrance from via nazionale with stairs and no elevator. Should be held better but is an oasis of calm. Dogs allowed

  • Spooky at night. I'll be back during day time to report more on this. Definitely worth seeing. God view of the city as well.
  • Please don't tell other people that in midst of Rome (at walking distance from the crowds at Forum Romanum) there is such a lovely and calm place with an exceptional view over Rome!
  • Beautiful spot
  • Nice spot
  • Wired used to be very nice, but it doesn't look more like on the pictures

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
