  • These structures, emblem of the medieval era, are a hallmark of the power and domination of noble families. Each of them made it build higher than the others, in a continuous chase to the sky, a bit like today with skyscrapers. This, in St. Peter's in Constraints, in the Monti Ward, has a name, that of the Borgias, which only to pronounce it evokes murky stories of intrigue and crime. The tower, which seems to hold secrets, belongs to the minimum friars of St. Francis of Paola, and has become the bell tower of the church of the same name. And it is a pleasure to delight with the sound of bells especially on festive days.

  • It is the tower of the Borgia palace with defense and sighting duties for its position at the top of St. Peter's Hill in Constraints. I came up the steep ladder after seeing the square base. In the 15th century. With the creation of a convent, a bell cell has been added to the tower, thus becoming the church bell tower. The complex is surrounded by beautiful palaces and is clearly visible from the square of St. Peter in Constraints. The outofary note is given by the parking lot.

  • One of many medieval towers on our walk from the Colosseum to Piazza Venezia. This tower is best viewed from Piazza di San Pietro in Vincoli.  more »

  • The Borgia Tower. Legend has it, that this simple looking medieval tower once belonged to the famous Borgia family. It is now inside the grounds of a monastery and is not open to the public.
  • Looks good but nothing special
  • Is a fabulous venue brings you back in time ... is located in the rione monti of Rome and therefore very close to the Colosseum is however not very well known as place although really deserves

  • Are not many evidences of Medieval Rome; between these towers are among the most easily identifiable, though often technically have been, as they say, scapozzate. The Borgia Tower is a fine specimen of Tower near San Pietro in Vincoli in an area that has preserved some other Roman urban stretch of the middle ages (for example, the scale of Borgia)

  • Coming out of San Pietro in vincoli, I wanted to make this picture the Tower framed by the rays of the setting sun. The thing that amazed me is that this tower is mentioned as belonging to the Borgias just because near the building where I live is this family.
