Scuderie del Quirinale, Rome

4.4
#16 of 99 in Museums in Rome
Scuderie del Quirinale, originally built to house the papal stables in the mid-1700s, is now an exhibition space that's home to many cultural events and exhibits throughout the year. Check online to see what is showing; past exhibits have highlighted the work of Vermeer, Caravaggio, Tintoretto, and Frida Kahlo, to name a few. The building is located on the highest of Rome’s seven hills, so make time in your visit to head upstairs and enjoy the panoramic views of Rome offered through the great window, which was designed by Gae Aulenti as part of the restoration of the building. This is image is larger than say the Museum's permanent exhibition held the main Museum. Is the original building was built in the 18th century as stables kinara Palace is situated; Era vehicles replaced horse-drawn carriage, car parking was in 1999, Museum of art exposed as as became so. I thought, they are quick to facing kinara Palace area security guard who can see, but they are now Presidential Palace building (kinara Palace), are exposed as a violent people in and out of art.

Guided tour of the exhibition "from Caravaggio to Bernini". Actually both there is only one work each, in each case the view is well worth a visit. To book a guided tour, are offered for everyone at scheduled times and at fair prices. Our guide was rilvelata very addictive and time (an hour and a half) is spent very quickly.

The "Scuderie del Quirinale" is a large structure of Rome who was born in ' 700 just as stable, "evolve" as garage, until it became the Palace of exhibitions that we recognize today. In particular, I had the pleasure to visit it on the occasion of the exhibition "Caravaggio in Bernini". The exhibition was very interesting though it must be said that just by Caravaggio and Bernini there was little (a couple of works and slightly more). The rest of the artists exposed, perhaps not known as the protagonists of the exhibition, they have been able to create the right mood for a great exhibition themed almost entirely Roman Baroque. In general the Council however misleading advertisements about distrusting the artists exposed.

  • Breathtaking historical building especially by night due to the chance of admiring Rome's overall beauty.
  • The Scuderie del Quirinale hosts temporary exhibitions, and many of them have great works of art on display. The position is also great, and as you exit you can enjoy a wonderful view of Rome from a glass-walled stair.
  • Beatiful location.. Only 1 painting by Caravaggio.
  • Great exhibition space and special view above the city
  • The Scuderie del Quirinale palace. Located in front of the Palazzo del Quirinale, also owned by the Presidency of the Republic, is used for exhibitions and cultural events. Previously known by the historical name of papal Scuderie del Quirinale, the adjective was then removed to avoid misunderstandings on the property.

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
