  • It was a good experience climbing up the stairs as a sign of gratitude and my share of small sacrifice for your faithful love.  more »
  • It is difficult to evaluate such places. I was getting ready for a trip to Rome and one of the points was Santa Scala and climbing the Stairs. It is not allowed to shoot here, and since the target I had a religious, not a tourist photo of the Stairs will not be. This place has been open since 6am, and if you want to walk your way in silence and fully immerse yourself in prayer, come in the morning while there are no tourists. I couldn't find the Prayers on the Russian, and the church shop with prayer books opens at 10 a.m., so, on the advice of the priest, for every...

  • Commanded to bring from the Holy Land by St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine I. It was the staircase of the Palacio de Pincho Pilates that Jesus climbed on Good Friday to be condemned. There are 28 marble steps that pilgrims rise to their knees with devotion.

  • It's definitely a place worth visiting. Not only because of its religious beliefs but also because it's very close to one of the old basilica. What more it's kind of like in the center of city. Explore your shopping options. Before searching for brands look out for the small shops set up in the streets. Any way you are not gonna miss it. I hope my review helps
  • Get on your knees ! So fortunate to crawl on our knees up the marble steps that Jesus walked before his Crucifixion. And kiss he's falling blood spots. The steps were under wood for 3 hundred years. And removed for a short time so you could crawl on your knees of the original steps of Pontius Pilate
  • A truly moving and unique opportunity to climb the same steps Jesus did. Rarely open to the public. Don't miss your chance if you're in Rome right now. Gorgeous frescoes along the walls and ceilings.
  • What breaks your heart is to see the many who'd do all it takes to do something for God. This is where you'd see people on their knees climbing up a flight of stairs what traditon would have us believe are steps from Pilate the governor's house. They forget that it is God who did everything by sending His Son to die on the cross to take the place of every believer who puts his or her trust on Jesus Christ. It is God who did everything that's needed, not man trying to please God. That's the gospel of Jesus Christ. Would you believe Him today for the salvation of your soul?
  • This sanctuary contains 28 marble steps brought to Rome by St. Helena. According to tradition, they are supposedly the steps Jesus climbed to meet Pilate on the day of His Passion. There are many penitent faithful who come here to climb the steps. Apart from the steps, I would recommend paying €3.50 to visit the Sancta Sanctorum or Holy of Holies chapel, which could be found upon reaching the top of the steps. This was once the private chapel of the Popes, and it houses the the Acheiropoieta icon of Christ Pantocrator, known as the Uronica, which was supposedly begun by St. Luke and finished by an angel. A guided tour is included in the price and we had a guide who explained all the features of the chapel in very good English. Photography is also allowed inside.
