  • The church is very small and unassuming & takes less than 10 minutes to see if u bypass the staircase. The reason to go is for the very steps our Lord Jesus walked upon. I'm in shape, active, not a bit overweight--climbing the steps on my knees was extremely difficult. Grueling. And emotional. Took me 30 minutes to do it the right way (say a prayer on each step). I don't want to deter anyone, but be aware that to do the stairs on knees is painful and difficult. If u get halfway up and can't finish, u r not allowed to stand up & walk the stairs. They r very strict about this. Just an FYI to allot enough time based on ability.
  • Make sure you are ready for a grueling task. Climbing the stairs on one's knees is painful. It is therapeutic and invigorating. It is incredible to contemplate that one is tracing a small part of the path Our Lord took on Good Friday.
  • The steps are clearly very important to many of the visitors and it is interesting to understand their history. However the church itself is much less impressive than many other churches in the city. It is free so it is worth popping in if you have come down to see the very impressive Basilica di San Giovanni.
  • One day I will going to there. To praise n worship My Lord Jesus.
  • Feeling good in holy stairs
