  • Just a few steps from Piazza Navona, right behind via dei coronari, this Baroque environment designed by Pietro da Cortona at the middle of the seventeenth century, looks like a fifth because of peace with a single façade that surrounds the monastery (cloister before opera romana del Bramante, now home of fine art exhibitions), the Church with the convex façade with semi-circular portico in Doric columns and on the right the next Seminar. Entering the Church, a single nave, the imprint is well above is the Fifteenth in the High Renaissance, with right the Chigi Chapel, with bow adorned by the fresco of the sibyls of Raphael (bronze altar relief of Fancelli, Christ carried to Heaven by angels), always right the Chapel, designed by Sangallo with rich Renaissance ornamentation and marble sculptures of the de ' Rossi. In the first chapel on the left rather wonderful frescoes by Baldassarre Peruzzi, among which the altar Madonna between Saints Brigid and Catherine and the customer card. Ponzetti. You access the presbytery surmounted by high grandstand designed by Sangallo, the dome of which was frescoed by Pietro da Cortona, the four large canvases painted by Maratta, Peruzzi and others. The other major and the choir, with its sculptures, are finally by Maderno, while the altar is venerated the icon on stone of our Lady of peace. In short, a treasure trove for scholars of art history, and for us mere mortals a dip in the Renaissance Baroque travertine façade behind one white.

  • Interesting Baroque church on the outside, with its beautiful curving lines and the semi-circular Pronaos, cherishes precious Renaissance artwork too, like the famous sibyls painted by Raphael. Unfortunately it is difficult to open because almost always closed. At the entrance offers a suggestive glance, with lines from the nave to the octagonal room dominated by an imposing dome. Some of the chapels have precious and rare decorations.

  • Quiet church to pray in. Lots of history. Pray for peace in family here. Also newly wed couples come here to pray for peace in their family.
  • So quite and tucked away from the hustle. A beautiful Raphael painting awaits. Sadly No photos allowed.
  • Raphael painted the chapel.
  • Elegant church beside Chiostro del Bramante.
  • Lovely, quiet church tucked in among beautiful buildings. Bellissimo!
