  • This is Rome! Trastevere neighborhood so typically Roman, it wasn't for anything in past centuries. Indeed, it seems they were wasting the rock drills between the inhabitants of the opposite banks, because they wanted to avoid getting confused. They put the stones but they were very devout, enough to finance the construction of a church to decently the miraculous image of the Madonna dell'Orto. 100 years or so from the laying of the foundation stone before seeing it completed, for the great difficulties of the "factory". Church full of treasures, kept and cared for by the confreres and Sisters of the archconfraternity. Impoverished by its sources of support over the past two hundred years, its care must only and exclusively to donations. Is the Japanese Church from 2008, and due to a Japanese Christian blessed martyr. There are many secrets of the beautiful which I highly recommend to take a guided tour, maybe if you're lucky, with the excellent Camerlengo.

  • This was beautiful. We had never been there before. It was easy to walk in and the art was fantastic.
  • Church Baroque hidden by the trastevere. On the outside it doesn't seem much, but inside is wonderful. It was a very nice surprise

  • This beautiful church is an amazing and prayerful place! It is down the street from San Francesco a Ripa and around the corner from Santa Cecilia. Santa Maria dell'Orto is my favourite church in Rome.
  • A church that, like many in Rome, is a "cause" of a Holy image of the Virgin Mary. By the end of ' 400 has done nothing but beautifying oneself and get rich: artists like the Zuccari brothers have it decorated. Not to mention the splendid manifestation of pure art settencetesca Golden and sumptuous decoration of the vault of the nave, with the frescoes on the vaults of the aisles. Go for it!
