Sacro Cuore di Gesù a Castro Pretorio, Rome
(4.5/5 based on 35+ reviews on the web)
Sacro Cuore di Gesù a Castro Pretorio features a lavish interior adorned with colorful stained glass windows, mosaics, frescoes, and coffered ceilings carved in red, blue, and gold. As you enter, notice the mosaic above the main doorway of this 19th-century structure, depicting angels venerating the Sacred Heart. The fresco in the dome over the sanctuary and the gilded wooden relief in the ceiling also represent the image of the Sacred Heart. Look up to see how the skylight in the roof near the crossing illuminates the choir, and round-headed windows divide the arches of a dome bearing the frescoes of the twelve prophets. Next to the church is a boarding school of arts and industries, also run by the Salesian Society. • This church is close to Termini station. From a distance you see the golden statue of Jesus on top of the bell tower that invites you to visit it. Its interior and also very nice: frescoes and sculptures.

  • An unusual encounter, what led me to know this basilica. Call it unusual as what separates absolute chaos from deeper silence, the shouting more deafening by the more sober recollection, is a distance of a few steps. Looks like an island, an oasis of peace, a place of pause: in fact it is a church, a majestic and beautiful, which creates a serene landing place in a port of passage, agitated bustle and people, who arrives and traveling: Termini station. Artistic details of the overflight basilica, now easily accessible from our phones, and I invite you to enjoy the beauty of this church, very well maintained, which start a break to find or if you will, the end of a day of Mayhem: alpha and omega, at the same time.

  • Built by Don John Bosco is attended regularly by the community of Filipinos, is unfortunately between the neighbouring buildings and Termini station. But worth a visit for its elegance and its deep meaning.

  • Best gelato I've had in Italy.
  • Beautiful. do not hesitate to enter. Much art

  • The Church itself has nothing to shout about, if not the steeple, surmounted by a statue of Jesus, where you see all over Rome, but with access banned to the public. There is also a restored organ, which sounds very good.

  • I was surprised to enter the pass and listen to a performance of the organ in the Church as was in the morning and there was no one. A dream that sound

  • A beautiful church but especially a beacon of hope that helps those less fortunate who often flock to the area of terms
