The Sala Regia is a state hall in the Apostolic Palace, in Vatican City.
Although not intended as such, this broad room is really an antechamber to the Sistine Chapel, reached by the Scala Regia. To the left of the entrance formerly stood the papal throne, which is now at the opposite side before the door leading to the Pauline Chapel.
The hall was begun under Pope Paul III by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger and was completed in 1573. The elegant barrel vault is graced by the very impressive plaster decorations of Perino del Vaga. The stucco ornaments over the doors are by Daniele da Volterra.
The walls were decorated by Livio Agresti, Giorgio Vasari and Taddeo Zuccari. The frescoes depict momentous turning-points in the history of the Church, including the return of Pope Gregory XI from Avignon to Rome, the Battle of Lepanto, the raising of the ban from Henry IV, the reconciliation of Pope Alexander III with Frederick Barbarossa and Peter II of Aragon offering the Kingdom to Pope Innocent III.

  • As I said in another review the holes are certainly one of the locations with more history and things to see in the city. This "Direct" are the remains of an ancient Roman building, one of the oldest in this area. Interesting especially in the context in which it is inserted. Where you turn you see wonders!

  • The Regia is located in the Roman Forum, at least the ruins of this once quite important building remain. The Regia is believed to have been the residence of early Roman Kings, beginning with Numa Pom...  more »
  • Once a central location even before the empire began, little remains to tell the story. If you are in the Roman Forum (of course you will be...), take a quick look.  more »

  • Horrible. Don’t do it. I know, it’s so cheap and right in the city. Please, don’t do it. 1. Absolutely filthy, mold and hair in the bathroom and dust and dirt everywhere. 2. Despite claiming housekeeping, there is none (and clearly has not been for some time). The room was not cleaned while we were there, I had to demand fresh towels from the man and it took him two days to provide them. He lied to me and stated he would clean the room and never did (I took him in to see the dirt and hair). 3. It is not a hotel, it is just 4 rooms that a sketchy man runs poorly. There is no common area or check in desk. 4. Toilet paper and soap are not provided - we had to run to the store to buy some when we checked in. 5. The location is not great at all, the neighborhood is sketchy and there was a fight outside our first night at 3 in the morning. Additionally, the neighborhood trash and recycling collection is right outside the window and the bars dump glass all night long as they close. We could not sleep. It is also at least a 20 min walk from most sites, there is better stuff closer. 6. Payment was demanded upfront, he knows he is about to scam you. Just don’t do it. I get it - you’re not going to be in the room at all, just for sleeping and showering. I though the same thing, it would have been cleaner to sleep in the street and shower in the fountains.u
  • Its not a hotel. Its doesnt have a reception. Located in living block and inside its just a corridor with rooms. Cleaning was just awful. Cleaning lady prepared my room before my arriving absolutely badly and cleaned its only once for all the 4 nights i stayed there. Another awful thing i didnt have a cold water in the tap. TV didnt work well at all. Basicly i had to ask my money back for such an awful service. Wouldnt stay ever again. Strictly dont reccomend this place to anyone. There are much more better option for this amount of money. The only thing i liked is a location. It is amazing. Termini is just 7-10 mins walking. Lots of landmarks around. U can even reach Spagna easily by walking.
  • Don't do it.. But?! No, just don't do it! Really bad experience. 1: We checked in at 0130 AM for a fee of €15, which we accepted before travel. However, the Chinese owner required a fee of €43 incl. Tax. I never received any receipt of what taxes and charges were to be paid. 2: We lacked soap in the bathroom, which we drew attention to when checking in. We never got it. 3: The door of the shower was broken. The seat for the toilet was broken. A water hose hung freely from the wall. The shelf over the sink was broken. 4: No cleaning and even before. There was very dirty in the corners and under the bed with large chunks of wool. 5: I called the owner and asked for a new receipt for taxes and charges of €43. The owner promised to lie in the room, we never received it. As a previous tenant has written: Don't do it-simple don't do it!

  • If you only looking for a bed where no problem fell dead but do not ask big thing, the TIO that made us checkin did not see him more, we did not wash the room throughout the week, we had to buy water and soap paper in a supermarket because we were finished. Positive stuff? You have a refrigerator to keep a drink and well located.

  • Ok accommodation for the price-the cleaning is not to shout hooray too.
