Follow in the footsteps of the pilgrims who traversed Ponte Sant'Angelo to reach St. Peter's Basilica, and you'll see the top of the castle where--legend has it--an angel appeared to announce the end of the plague. Roman Emperor Hadrian built the triple-arched, travertine marble-faced bridge crossing the Tiber river in 134 CE. Stately statues of angels watch over the structure, reminding visitors of the miracle. During the jubilee of 1450, so many pilgrims walked over the bridge at once that the balustrades broke, and many drowned in the river. Look for the space at the head of the bridge where houses and a Roman arch were torn down to give them more room. Although the bridge is closed to vehicles, you can walk across and take in the views of the Castel Sant'Angelo. • This bridge is in front of Castel Sant'Angelo, it is beautiful because it has many sculptures, also from there take out nice photos with the Castle or the Vatican's background. In addition, with this bridge in the background view is spectacular.

  • the Ponte Sant' Angelo is my opinion one of the most beautiful bridges over the Tiber to Castel (Castel Sant' Angelo) lead. Also in the evening, when the Sun is gone down already, it is worth a visit.

  • Beautiful bridge lined with statues all the way to Castel Sant'Angelo. Great pictures can be taken here with the castel in the background.
  • What a breath taking so it of photos. Must go just before during sun set. The lighting for photos is just priceless. We just lived around the corner so I see this place is many different times of the day.
  • Really good. Worth visiting. You can get nice pictures with the castle behind.
  • Great little bridge for photos of the St Angelo Castel! Lovely on a hot summers day, there is not much more to say than that as it is just a bridge but would be worth going.
  • Beautiful brodge ruined by hundreds of selfie takers in the bridge.Like everything in Rome needs a good clea.
