Ponte Duca d'Aosta is a bridge that links Lungotevere Flaminio to Piazza Lauro De Bosis, in Rome (Italy), in the Flaminio and Della Vittoria quarters.
The bridge, dedicated to Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy-Aosta, 2nd Duke of Aosta, was designed by architect Vincenzo Fasolo; the building started in 1939 and the inauguration took place in 1942.
The reinforced concrete bridge has a single arch and is 220 m (722 ft) long and 30 m (98 ft) wide; at both extremities are placed two pairs of shafts, whose façades are decorated with high-relieves by the Tuscan sculptor Vico Consorti, illustrating war scenes on the rivers Isonzo, Tagliamento, Sile and Adige.
The bridge links the Flaminio quarter to the Foro Italico.

  • Isn't the white bridge that to the Romans is located just to the North at Course France, far more elegant than the latter bridge due to the design of architect Fajardo; connects the districts Flaminio with foro Italico (then named after Mussolini) and with the District of victories, created in conjunction with its realization. Definitely, not my isolated opinion, this bridge is one of the most elegant bridges slender (almost aerodynamic) in Rome, with its unique central arch on the Tiber and another two with rigid channel side members that rest on their shores, stylistic expression of extreme rationality. Some sculptures, there are four reliefs depicting the Italian soldiers of the first world war, are positioned at its four newspapers.

  • Nice bridge in front of the buildings of the Foro Italico. Beautiful reliefs celebrating the value of Italian soldiers who fought in World War I.

  • Not really necessary to make the detour for this bridge built during the second world war. Remarkable features are the reliefs of the first world war on the pillars located at the ends of the bridge.
