  • Exit Ponte Sisto, you end up in Piazza Trilussa, a small square headed to the great Roman dialect poet, dominated by the fontana dell'Acqua Paola. Impressive stairs at the foot of the fountain, place of rest for weary tourists and for those who want to watch a bit of Roman nightlife in the evening. The fountain was originally located on the opposite side of the River, against the backdrop of Via Giulia, was transferred in this square at the end of 1800. On the right side of the square is the monument of the great Roman poet Trilussa. Next to his picture shows one of his poems, "the shadow".

  • Coming from Campo de Fiori Sixto bridge crosses and you find yourself with this square and its steps in which there is always a very pleasant atmosphere with people all the time. It is one of the entrances to the Trastevere and a good place to contemplate the life of this district. Already in the evening, both the square and the Bridge Street musicians can be seen and you can also access the ride of the Tiber with its bars and terraces.

  • Stopped here, before exploring Trastevere. A small square but filled with character and bordered by some lovely buildings. The small narrow roads that ran off the square invited one to explore further...  more »

  • Probably the best pizza to go! Absolutely delicious, mouth watering pizzas with fresh ingredients :) I kept going back for more!
  • Some less touristy restraunts.
  • Located in a nice square and has great food.
  • Spectacular pizza with a very convivial host, who has recently taken over the family business again after a few years hiatus. This pizza place has apparently been in his family for 25 years and it shows in the quality of the pizza. Cheaper and better quality and service than the (pretty good) bakery down the road on Renella, where the guys are a little surly. Try the cacio e Pepe and pesto with pepper. Fantastic.
  • Nice place to have a break strolling in Trastevere. In the night it becomes a beautiful gathering place

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
