  • Stone square owes its name to a characteristic folk origin linked to look gloomy, stony, that the environment had hired in the middle ages with the Temple of Hadrian reduced to fortress. The square is dominated by the Temple of Hadrian, but another Pearl of the piazza is the magnificent Palazzo Ferrini,

  • In its top 10 of Roman sites, Stendhal enters Piazza di Pietra. Yes, but what is Piazza di Pietra? And, once discovered, because a tiny piazza with a quarter of a Roman temple would stand out much in a very central area a few steps from the Pantheon, Montecitorio, by Saint Ignatius, from the course? From the pictures it would hardly understand; We must, preferably scivolandovi from alleys left Ward, Pigna, arrive to the square. Small, austere but with Baroque enough to be on the side of the temple built into a Palace. And then, noting that row of perfectly preserved columns only she and alone, and of course built in a stately home, you will have the impression to be admiring the most wonderful, marmoreal row of columns in Rome. And, without troubling the Athenian Acropolis, limiting ourselves to Rome I'm afraid it's true. It seems impossible, but it's true, are beautiful. Come visit us; a detour on foot from the course will make you want to do much more, Roman deviations!

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
