Passeggiata di Gianicolo, Rome
(4.8/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
Look over the rooftops of Rome at Passeggiata di Gianicolo, set on a hill that extends all the way to the Basilica of St. Peter. You'll be high enough to see the major monuments and smaller side streets. Every day at noon a single cannon announces midday from the hill. For a preview of your visit, watch the opening scene of the film "The Great Beauty," which shows the attraction in all its glory. Passeggiata di Gianicolo is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Rome Edition.

  • Bus from Termini station, if the weather is nice you can enjoy a beautiful panorama! Pair it with a visit to Trastevere. You'll be thrilled!

  • Breathtaking view of the whole of Rome on the one hand, the dome and its romantic sunsets on the other. The equestrian statue of Garibaldi dominates this Hill (I would say ... the eighth Roman Hill). The lighthouse, the statue of Anita, busts of historical figures, the traditional Cannon firing at noon, the puppet show for children, strolls in the gardens down to Fontanone on one side and the other until the Church of Sant'Onofrio, make this an enchanting place, exciting and always come back.
