  • Most attribute the realization of altana, is certainly distinctive architectural trait of this Palace to Bartolomeo Ammannati: certainly our view is drawn, to step from this impressive detail. They are also the massive rusticated doorways, framing the entrance door on the street of the same name and the one that gave access to the Tower later incorporated in the building on via dei Coronari to form another distinctive feature of this monumental Palace late the 16th century. Admirable as mentioned at the beginning the altana, successful synthesis between the lodge and the Tower, built in the upper part, the terminal building as previously happened to the towers, typical element of Roman architecture of the Renaissance. Sure to notice from the bottom you need to walk with your head held high, to notice her features details, here represented by shells adorning the walls.

  • The Palace was constructed by a member of the Curia, Mariano dei nobili Vecchiarelli of Rieti, the time of Gregory XIII (Pope from 1572 to 1585). Later it was inhabited by the future Pope Innocent XII Pignatelli (reigned 1691 to 1700). It is a late Renaissance building designed by Bartolomeo Ammanati, Florentine sculptor and architect who had several commissions in Rome, by Popes and their families originating in Tuscany. The building isn't flashy, but the portal presents one of the earliest and most elegant lodges in Rome. In front of the building, on via dei Coronari, there is a building which tradition says be Raphael's House, but there is no historical evidence about. Today it is owned by the family of Venetian nobility and Emo-Capodilista, formerly a producer of wines, which has restored the building, after a long period of decline, in 50 years. Additional curiosity: the tomb of Mariano Vecchiarelli, Baroque-style macabre in san Pietro in Vincoli, not far from the tomb of Julius II and Moses by Michelangelo.
