  • This is Pentenzieri, on the street of Conciliazione, connected to St. Peter's Square. It is not a particularly building of the mud wall of the light brown color when seeing from the street, but when I enter the courtyard from the backside, I know that it is a large building considerably wide.

  • Today's seat of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre and for many years a luxury hotel, the Palazzo della Rovere in Via della Conciliazione is a fine example of a fifteenth-century building, embellished with cycles of frescoes made to say of the criticism by The Pinturicchio and the his shop. Unfortunately, almost all of the original frescoes have been lost and the restorations have been largely limited to retracing the decorative parts to grotesque or geometric patterns, but the visit of the salons on the main floor is still pleasant and instructive. The most evocative and best preserved testimonies can be found in the Hall of the Demidus, with its coffered ceiling decorated with parchment miniatures applied to the wooden tiles, on which is represented a fascinating late medieval bestiary. I was able to visit the palace during the FAI days of spring 2019.

  • Beautiful palace, visited at the same time as the FAI day: the two hours of waiting was worth it. Very well-prepared guide, which made the visit really interesting.

  • It is the biggest Church of the world. Amazing place. The church is very soothing and calm. A must visit place in Rome. The temperature will be a bit warm. "Be very careful with the pick pocket".
  • It is also known as Palazzo della Rovere because Cardinal Domenico della Rovere, in the fifteenth century, entrusted the construction to the architect Baccio Pontelli. The latter in the specific case drew inspiration from the prospectus of Palazzo Venezia organized around a large courtyard distributed on two levels, of which the superior is a hanging garden preceded to the east by a loggia. The interiors can boast a cycle of prestigious frescoes by Pinturicchio and his school. In this context shines the ceiling of the demigods that spread over 63 fomellas painted on paper and inserted in the wooden lacunars. The whole is a triumph of fantastic animals and mythological creatures borrowed from medieval bestiaries. From 1600 the palace is the seat of the Brotherhood of Penitentiary.

  • A jewel of the Roman renaissance, wanted by Cardinal Della Rovere and now seat of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre. Frescoes by Pinturicchio and extraordinary illusionist architecture.

  • Really interesting experience. Usually closed to the public, but thanks to the FAI I had the opportunity to visit it.
