  • Not too far from the island Tiberina and the tiber shore (slightly to the south) you can meet this building/palace that you notice quite much given the architecture. Viewed only externally. Interesting to see, also for the presence of low reliefs on the facade.

  • It's an amazing building. It's impossible to pass by! Every element of its finish, almost every brick of it can be viewed endlessly. This is an incredible assortment of the oldest artifacts, which were already such almost 1000 years ago and still preserved, as if connecting with each other tourist, and not very, interesting area in a single "galaxy of history." Janus Arch, Bull Forum, Portun Temple, Great Cloaca, preserved span of the Rothto Bridge, Mouth of Truth, road to Tarpei Rock and Capitol Hill - all around Casa dei Crescenzi, an absolutely stunning building that was once part of the city wall.

  • Creschenzi's house is located on the boulevard in front of the Temple of Potoruno, just across ponte lot. The side of the building is bare, and there are traces of the wall being peeled off, chipped, and repaired, and it is an old building of an age which is obviously different from the building which borders next to it. It was a tower on the bridge that had taken a toll from people crossing ponte rotto broken bridge, which is now decaying and only a part of it remains. If you look at the map, it matches the extension of ponte lot exactly. It is said that the purpose of the appearance of this house is that it is decorated with the one brought from the ancient ruins. It varies from person to person, rather than recycling it or destroying ruins. It was also the first time I knew that Cola di Rienzo lived in this house, a statue on his left when he climbed the Cordorata, which leads to the capitol hill. I'm looking forward to walking through the streets of Rome where the dots are becoming more and more.

  • Built by Nicola (1040 -1065) for his son David. Designed to restore the glory of Anciente Rome. Later added a tower to control traffic to the Tiber. One of oldest examples of domestic dwellings.
  • The House of Krescenci is the remains of an 11th century tower. The Creptati family ran water mills on the Tiber, charged for travel or passage over the Emilio Bridge, today's Ponte Rotto (Broken Bridge), which is 100 metres from the building. At the top of the house is an inscription in Latin: "There was no vanity, but there was a desire to restore the ancient dignity of Rome." Looks a little funny, if you do not think how many temples and other ancient structures were destroyed. Be sure to pay attention to this millennial creation of medieval "masters."

  • Visiting the forum Boario, passing the temple of Portuno near the registry we find the house of Crescenzi. The remains that we can observe constituted the base of a tower that was here in the Middle Ages. The fascinating thing is the decorations of cupids or the frios that embellish the façade. Many of these marble parts have certainly been plunder from other infrastructures but I wonder how much of this marble would come to us if it had not been used in this way and how much would it be in limestone to make lime? Maybe the esploliations are not always bad.

  • The medieval-era house was built around 1040 at the behest of Nicolaus of the Crescenzi. Currently the house retains entirely the ground floor and the first floor and partially the second, the interior is not visitable. Looking at the house the facade and the left side, which are free are richly ornate, with many pieces of marble, probably related to dispossessions of other buildings. In the front, above the door there is a curved lintel, where there is an inscription, in which Nicolaus, describes the reasons that had led him to build that beautiful house. The right side is instead attached to the palace of the former registry, built in 1937. Note This place is part of those painted by the Great Painter Ettore Roesler Franz in the series of "Rome Sparita", 120 watercolors the size of about 50 x75, made between 1878 and 1896. The artist with these representations, wanted to save the image of ancient and popular places of Rome that already at that time were disappearing, thanks to him so we can get the idea of how the city still showed itself in the nineteenth century. This beautiful collection (now 119 paintings are available) is present in the "Museum of Rome in Trastevere" in Piazza di S. Egidio.
