  • This recently built monument (2004) is located just across from the palalottomatica. It's not particularly tall (much lower obelisks of eur or the Olympic Stadium), but has a particular spiral shape with different channels. Is bronze. .. at the end with the large number of things in Rome, go decidedly in the background.

  • Notice of not being completely objective because I consider Arnaldo Pomodoro genial and major sculptors of the twentieth century, even considering the environment in which this work was placed, to ennoble a peripheral corner but very popular dell EUR that, Moreover welcomes motorists coming to the capital from the South and in particular by the Ciociaria and the coast, entering by the Pontina. Date to 2003 when it was inaugurated by Veltroni, but was commissioned on the occasion of the Jubilee of the year 2000, although not expected, perhaps, a similar degradation due to the garbage that systematically adorns the space around the Obelisk. The structure is a large bronze 21 meters high and more than seven, surely evokes the Tower of Babel and, very particularly the difference, in terms of style with the more monumental Obelisk EUR, built by Mussolini placed in piazza Marconi.

  • TAPERED and pyramid not Obelisk. Bronze mass with a descending spiral upwards. 21 meters high to a circle at the base of 7 meters. Characterized by plastic forms in both positive and negative angular rectilinear, curvilinear enveloping that demonstrating the bumpy life and historical events of the 20th century. Unfortunate location on via Cristoforo Colombo at the edge of the parking lot of the Palaeur. The modern opera, in my view, should be treated with more respect, even though visibility from the cars is maximal, but not usability.

  • It is a pity that a bronze sculpture of such importance and made by an internationally acclaimed artist such as Arnaldo Pomodoro is so little known even among the Romans themselves. I happened to pass by taxi and none of the cab drivers could tell me the meaning nor the author. The sculpture is enchanting especially if admired on a sunny day, so that the polished bronze creates a sharp contrast with the details in the shade.

  • This is a newer monument in the EUR district, a "20th century" obelisk designed by Alnardo Boo Pomodoro. Built in October 2004, 21 meters high, 7 meters in diameter, bronze relief. Alnardo himself explains the meaning of this contemporary sculptural style obelisk; "To show the intricacies of modern life, which is the hallmark of the new century."

  • In front of the Palazzo dello Sport, the work of the sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro entitled "Novecento" was inaugurated in October 2004. The denomination accurately describes the iconographic intent of the bronze cone of 21 Mt. Surrounded by a large fountain: a sculptural transposition of the events that have characterised the TWENTIETH century. Spheres that are confused with transverse lines, a spiral that from below reaches the high vorticosamente, since always the geometric figures and the bronze are the essential elements of the sculptor's production, which in this work wanted to represent with tangling, Twists, gaps and reliefs a contradictory era, made up of catastrophes and conquests, of developments and of terrible historical pages. The spiral recalls the Tower of Babel and the obelisks that enrich the capital, but it is also a symbol of the passage of time, of continuous, dynamic and constant progress. A second tomato sculpture in Rome, "The Perfect Planet", can be admired in the courtyard of the pinecone of the Vatican Museums and consists of a large bronze sphere almost "leaning" on a mirror of water with a square shape.
