  • As I bought the Rome Pass was entitled to enter into two historic sites or museums. I chose the Colosseum and the Castel Sant'Angelo. I have not regretted, in addition to the historical richness that carries, has a sensational view of Rome and St. Peter's Basilica. Under 18 years old to enter.

  • A Castle absolutely seeped in history, that is tells the story of so many Roman leaders and popes. It's incredible architecture contrasts outside and inside, and the views from the roof are wonderful,...  more »
  • We only got to view this castle from outside several times while in the vicinity of the Vatican and didn't get to take advantage of an inside tour, but even from the outside it's worth checking out an...  more »

  • Stunning rooms, stunning view and museum. A bit pricy, but well worth the money.
  • Beautiful in night time.
  • Ok museum, small and crowded, nice views from the top.
  • "The pinwheel of 30 June" (2015) a fantastic event that was held on the day of St Peter and St Paul, patrons of Rome, with fireworks of immeasurable beauty with a backdrop of Castel Sant'Angelo and the first floor of the Tiber River lit by the glare of the lights. A must for a unique experience!

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
