  • I wish all of the "secret doorways" weren't locked, me and my young daughter tried to open every door just for good measure, alas they were locked would LOVE to see behind them, also such amazing view...  read more »
  • We only visited St. Peter's Basilica from the outside then we went to the Citadel. A little exciting, a little scenic and historic! It should be added that there were 2 people ahead of us in the queue and it cost 20 euro for 2 people and 3 children.

  • This like a lot of places in Rome is stunning. The architecture, the statues. Great place to visit and it's very close to Vatican City so you can stop here then walk to the Vatican.
  • It was built for and by Hadrian to be his mausoleum. Imagine it covered in marble and lined with trees on the top to look like a crown. After the Pope's took it over it became the place where they held orgies and wild parties. The Pope's also used it as a torture chamber and it is said the bodies would wash up along the river quite regularly. Interesting history. €8 to enter
  • Only entered this because I was passing and haven't had the chance to check out a castle on my Europe trip. Really cool place, great views of the city and the Vatican. For some reason I only paid 1€ which makes it even sweeter.
  • It's a great location and the views from the top are wonderful. We weren't originally planning to stop, but did as we walked pass and paid the entry pay. Glad we did. We lived learning about its history and seeing the OLD architecture. Very enjoyable. Stayed about 1 hour or so Maybe a little more.
  • Fantastic views from the top and not much of a climb to get there. Many stopping points on the way to break it up. Interesting internal halls but found the outer of the castel the most exciting to view. Nice cafe near the top also.
  • A wonderful castle with commanding views of the Vatican. The location was made famous in Angels and Demons, and for good reason. Definitely recommend going here if you're visiting the Vatican.
