  • First of all, the museum is very cool! Many, many artifacts from India-Tibet-Nepal, sowing. America, Africa and Oceania. Second, he has another address-Piazza Guglielmo Marconi 14. Due to a belated map update, almost went to the old address listed in Tripadvisor. The museum itself is located on the second floor of a large building with a sign "biglietteria" which sells tickets to all nearby museums. A separate hall is dedicated to Buddhism, many heads, statues, paintings, Sounds Tibetan music :) On the 3rd floor is also a "paleontological corner", numerous crocks, vases and ornaments. Everything is brought from the expeditions of the researcher Giuseppe Tucci, but unfortunately, the signatures and descriptions of the exhibits are only in Italian. Tickets: 10 euros.

  • On our last day in Rome we were looking for a place that opened sort of early that we could visit before heading home. National Museum of Oriental Art fit the bill. It's not in a large space, but it h...  more »
  • An ominous fate is hitting the Eastern National Museum in the prestigious palazzo Brancaccio. The Museum is named after the famous orientalist Giuseppe Tucci nsigne, Explorer and historian of religions and coo-founder of the Italian Institute for the middle and far East (IsMEO) with Giovanni Gentile. The Museum was established in 1957 with the first group of objects are the result of Tucci's explorations in Tibet and Nepal, later expanded through purchases at generous donations: important was that of Mrs. Ballard widow of Giuseppe Tucci, who in 2000 added his legacy, naming the Museum his universal heir. What had been created over time, with patience, sacrifice and dedication to the study of Oriental civilization, today, in an instant is nullified by a vile mob that by virtue of ' enhancement ' understanding to commodification closes its doors. The Museum has few visitors and does not do as it should! You fear a transfer from the current location to the significantly higher costs for the dense Eur. But ... the ' usual suspects ' will argue that this saves! I remember in the early ' 70, the first few times at the Museum: the charm of those halls by the Dim light, the silence of those environments that allowed almost a communion with the works coming from the far East, a place of study and meditation, today unfortunately all this It ended miserably. Too bad!

  • Interesting museum with a very nice collection of pieces. The majority of the collection is from near/middle East. Not to big about 2-3 hrs to visit.
  • I didn't find it in the location that Google maps showed us
  • If you happen to be in Rome, and if you have even the slightest interest in middle and/or far Eastern art, artifacts and antiquities, then this museum is an absolute must! The museum exhibits include 3000 year old middle Eastern artifacts to modern day Chinese artwork. Definitely worth spending an hour (or two!).
  • Small but well-curated collection. Interesting series of Japanese woodblock prints of firefighters (no kidding). Bulk of collection is more Near East than Far. Don't forget to look up -- the ceilings are stunning.
  • The Museum has moved to EUR since November 2017. Time to update this side!
