  • Some interesting pieces here. Good stories of crime and some morbid torture machines. Would recommend as a stop on the way to somewhere else. Only took about 30 minutes all up.  more »
  • The Museum has three floors characterized each by narrow stairways, low roofs and rooms quite small, all in my opinion suitable to make better the theme of the Museum. I liked especially the ground with real (and ancient) medieval torture equipment. The trip was very curious between descriptions of particular objects and small stories of some of the owners. Was almost created an environment from horror movies with objects of torture and weapons and a quiet and small seeds. I met him just because I was looking for a museum to visit on the cheap (it was a period of a few pennies and still didn't give up a cultural ride), the price of 2 euros is really low for what it offers, just visit it fast it takes an hour and me zza about. My partner and I were in for more than 2 hours. Congratulations indeed! The only flaw is the entry a bit hidden, we walked past it twice before you notice it, but at least it is near campo de ' fiori and then with the media is quite attainable. I highly recommend it, and it says a that's quite scary and suggestible.

  • Created by the penitentiary administration is very special attraction that is located in the historical center of Rome, a few steps from Campo de ' fiori. Not everyone knows about its existence, but it is worth visiting (I believe it currently is closed for renovation), the ticket price is negligible. The Museum is divided into three sections. In one there are the testimonies of the forms of torture used during the centuries, another is dedicated to the study of criminal anthropology, see Lombroso, and at first techniques of criminal police and another to the most glaring crimes of the twentieth century.

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
