The Museum is located inside of one of those beautiful and majestic buildings of EUR piazza Marconi. Interestingly, exhibits, books, tools, exhibits of folk tradition (mainly agricultural) of each Italian region. Detailed explanations are cute even the lights with sensors that switch on the visitor. We find the Gigli di Nola, la Macchina di Santa Rosa in Viterbo, artworks and objects dedicated to Tuscan preacher David Lazzaretti, the gondola of Queen Margaret of Savoy to visit Venice in 1882. Eye-catching the exhibit "plot Aurunca" of designer Lisa Tebaldi fats, with the forms built with stramme, a variety of plants. The 1 ^ Sunday of the month, when admission is free, guided tours are available for a fee.

The EUR rises and this didn't help. Talking with the curators found that tourists, with all the cultural attractions that may have in the Centre of Rome could hardly push down there, which is a shame. First of all, why visit the EUR for those fascinated by architecture is interesting and because around piazza Marconi, known by the Romans as the square of the Obelisk there is more than a museum. One of popular art and traditions is immense and brings together several collections arrived in the Capital on the occasion of celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the unification of Italy in 1911: from ceramics, folk costumes (the reason I visited), drawings and prints, working tools and more. Very well set up and maintained in the unusual alternative to the usual teaching is a plus.

  • Really beautiful photograph exhibition now going on! Definitely worth to visit. Only €4,-.
  • Broad Museum by a broad vision of an Italy largely gone. The rich variety of exhibits that cover all aspects of daily life, holidays, crafts, etc. Interesting, although somewhat hidden, photographic documentation concerning the exhibition of Rome in 1911 for the fiftieth anniversary of the unification of Italy, where it was exhibited the first nucleus of this interesting Museum. Beautiful environments with large rooms and large staircases. Maybe we should expect a cleanup of some exhibits and an upgrade of part of the stands.

  • Pieces of the notes lost in memory. Costumes, jewelry and more of the people and who we were. Nice but forgot

  • Notable, with many museum objects belonging to our history. Fascinating ones of the last 200 years, and special musical instruments

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
