  • While exploring the city, we found ourselves in front of this nice Caravella. We noticed it mainly because they come from Genoa, we have a history with Colombo and the Caravalle. Cute is on a colonnade. If you pass us take a look.

  • At first, I thought it was related to the Great Voyage, but on April 9, 1956, to commemorate the Sister City Treaty, which was signed in Paris and Rome, it seems to have placed the Caravelle ship, which symbolizes the city of Paris, on top of an ancient cylinder that was excavated.

  • On the way to go to the Fountain of Moses we met this column that on the summit has a bronze caravel, intrigued I did a search on the Internet discovering that was installed for a twinning with the city of Paris, Rome has given the symbol of Rome, La Lupa and Paris the Caravel that actually is in the coat of arms of Paris

  • Small bronze caravell on marble column.
  • Monument of the caravel. In commemoration of the twinning between the two capitals on April 9, 1956, three years later it was opened to traffic and dedicated to Paris the way. At the same time there was installed a monument consisting of an ancient column (probably found during some river excavations) at the top of which was placed a bronze caravel (symbol of Paris). Rome also donated its symbol, a Capitoline Wolf, to Paris, now located within a small garden in the Latin Quarter.

  • Walking along Via Parigi, you come across a small strip of grass sideways on the rather inhospitable road, on which stands an old column with a proportional sailing ship. It was built on the occasion of a historic commemoration of the twinning between Paris and Rome on 9 April 1959. The column was found during construction work near Piazza Nicosia and likely belonged to the discarded material from a river port. At the sloped top was either a bronze caravelle, a two to four-mast sailing ship type preferably used in the 14th to 16th centuries, and a coat of arms of Paris. In any case, a bronze caravelle was replaced on the column and a plaque with inscription was placed at the foot. The inscription, which is placed in Latin, summarizes: The beautiful ship never sank and was a symbol of the capital of the Gauls. It is testament to the mutual affection of the two cities. There is a second plaque at the beginning of the street, which also has a hulching text. Such a ship, however, could only operate on the sea and not on rivers. As extraordinary I do not perceive this monument, but the ship is quite well worked out and suitable as a photo opportunity.
