  • ... also in relation to the cost: 7.5 euros for a visit lasting about 45 minutes. The fresco is in good condition, but it is poorly lit and the environment too humid.

  • It is not about the art gallery in the Palazzo Barberini and the adjacent Temple of Mithra. Access is limited only by prior reservation, with the Italian guide. Mithraeum, meaning Temple of worship of the ancient God Mithra, the Palazzo Barberini was discovered in the 20th century, similar temples in Rome just four. Within the unique ancient frescoes, which are inexpressible luck for fans of antiquity.

Sanctuary of small size, around 6 to 12 metres with vaulted ceiling, dating to the second century AD. Pagan frescoes amazing preservation, the most memorable image of the "Mithras killing the Bull. For completeness of sensations knowledge of Italian language.

Where to stay in Rome

For easy foot access to most of the city's main historical sites, consider staying in Rome's old town center. The area is conveniently placed for public transport, only a walk away from the city's main railway station. Accommodations here span all hotels sectors, from cheap hostels to luxury brand names. To avoid the steep prices and overcrowding of the town center, explore the hotels in the inner suburbs of Rome. They offer comfortable rooms and excellent food at a fraction of the price charged by the centrally located hotel chains. Another affordable option is the area around Vatican, which boasts a good selection of family-owned B&Bs.
